PAXTONIA HELPS A CHURCH GROUP
Sat, Jul 6th, 2013 5:15:00 pm - Today around 5:15PM Deputy Chief Bowerman was driving past the intersection of Old Jonestown rd. & Johnson st.  He noticed a Motor Coach Bus along the side of the road with the engine compartment open and some kids sitting on the curb.  Deputy Chief Bowerman circled around to see if any assistance was needed.  He spoke to the bus driver and asked if he needed any help.  The bus driver said " YES, the bus broke down about 45 minutes ago and there are 55 kids 2 Priests and myself on board."  Deputy Chief Bowerman realized with the temperatures being in the 90's he had to do something.  Deputy Chief Bowerman contacted a few of the other Officers and started making arrangements.  We opened our air conditioned social hall and started rehydrating everyone while cooling them down.  Chief Fife went out and purchased 12 pizzas and other snacks for the group.  The group was given a tour of the station and after cooling down and getting something to eat, they played ping-pong, basketball and other games untill the relief bus came at around 7:45PM.  Today, Deputy Chief Bowerman could have looked the other direction like hundreds of others who went through that intersection did but he decided to stop and see if they needed help.  Today shows what kind of people the Paxtonia Fire Company has and why we are who we are.  Good luck to the church group and we wish you safe travels.
